• Founded in 1902, Texaco's original name was The Texas Company.
• The TEXACO name was inspired by a telegram abbreviation.
• The Texaco star was used in 1903, when a 19-year-old italian refinery worker suggested the five-pointed symbol of Texas. He later added a green "T"- a color scheme probably picked up from the Italian flag.
